Good book
By L. Sonjohn
It was a good book. However, there were a lot of grammatical errors. The word prejudice for an adjective was used and should have been "prejudiced". It would have been easier to swallow if the writer was not a Phd but that was almost unacceptable.

The Confederate Flag
By Kathleen M. Lucey
GHOSTS OF BEAUVOIR: A SUPERNATURAL JOURNEY OF SELF-DISCOVERY by Jason Beverly
When I came upon this book I was pulled in by the title "Ghosts of Beauvoir. I thought I would be reading about the many spirits that inhabit the Beauvoir. The Ghosts of Beauvoir was actually the backdrop to the actual plotline of the book.
In 2001, the controversy over the Confederate flag drew battle lines with people who wanted to keep the flag as status quo, and others wanted to see the flag replaced so that its not insulting to others. The Confederate flag held different meanings to many people. The African Americans looked upon the flag as evil and oppression from when their ancestors were slaves in the South. The White Southerners many of them looked upon the flag with pride and honor. They proudly displayed their flag in honor of their deceased loves ones who fought in the Civil War.
The character, Jacob Lattimore works as a journalist for the Bay News in Biloxi, MS. One of his many assignments was to attend a tour of the many historical places in Biloxi. One of homes he toured was the Beauvoir. The Beauvoir was the home of Jefferson Davis and his wife, Vavina. The home has changed hands over the years but now it is a museum in which the public is able to tour and take a peek inside the past. In the Beauvoir there is a room known as the Flag room. In this room are displayed all the many types of the MS State Flags. This is when Jacob had his first encounter with a spirit. Jacob also tours the rest of the home when he looks outside the window he happens to see what he thought a staff member dressed up as a slave. He thought that was in poor taste. What he didn't know that what he saw was an actual ghost of slave. The spirit had followed him home and wanted Jacob to help him with some unfinished business. The spirit wanted Jacob to free his soul from the chains of slavery and to make peace between the races.
It was often brought to Jacob's attention that free black men as well as slaves fought for the Confederate Army. This piece of info even I was not aware of. I learned something new as well. They fought for respect and pride and that is why some also honor the Confederate flag. The citizens of MS did vote on the flag and it was voted to remain the state flag. Yes, we can all agree that slavery was cruel and a horrible stain in American history. No one should have ever been owned by another. Hopefully we as a people have learned from this and have moved on. Racism, yes still exists hopefully one day we can all look at each other as humans and not as a color.
