Well woven tale of fantasy and intrege

If you are like me and love tales of Witches, Weres and the occasional Vampire, you’ll love this. The author has woven together a town filled with many different groups to create a modern day setting with intrigue and mystery, but it was the delightful lead characters that held my attention throughout. They are each so different, with well written dialogue that you get drawn into their world and the challenges that they have to overcome.

While the story is complete, there is a strong hint at the end that a sequel might follow. Having enjoyed the first story so much, I can’t wait to see what the lovable protagonist will get involved with next.

A great story with a wonderful, loving leading lady

I am NOT normally into witches, vampires and such. To be honest, I doubted I would enjoy it. Someone suggested that I might enjoy it because of the sensitive treatment of Transgender material and I was quickly totally captivated by a clever and fortunately mostly unpredictable story line. I even got caught up in the relationships developed between our heroine Tracy and the dog and later the wolf. The plot will keep you guessing. Very difficult to put down. For a fairly long story, it was a fairly quick read. The only negative was an embarrassing number of typographical errors, but they don't hinder the read. This is a shame considering the quality of the writing. Give it a shot - it's a excellent read...

Good story marred by misuse of English

For the Fairest Review

For the Fairest is a good story involving werewolves, other weres and a tg element. Potter can tell a story & keep the reader interested. I rated the story as 5/5.

Unfortunately, he seems to be hostile toward the English language. I rated this part 2/5. There aren’t a lot of glaring typos in the conventional sense. But there are more misused words than I have ever come across in a single book. Some examples [with correction in brackets]:
All other [over] the place
whipping [wiping]
twirling a finger in her hand [hair]
a full [fool] not to look
dog breathe [breath]
should of [have or ‘ve] repeatedly misused
I went into my house [room; already in the house!]
bearing [baring] teeth
end of the end [bed]
whereas she had blue [eyes; also many missing words]
too [to; ‘too’ is NOT correct at the end of a sentence!]
nerve racking [wracking]
All the [way] through her talk
taking [talking]
deiced [decided]
put up a man [hand]
one [won] the lottery
instance [instant]
I near [knew] this path
In suite [en suite; repeatedly incorrect]
Blood shut [shot]
My favorite: rod [wrought] iron bars
Wouldn’t wish that on anymore [any one]
chasing [causing] me to
diltue [dilute]
implemented him [? Implicated maybe?]
worse [worst; repeatedly misused]
I [it] kind of
You’re [your]
Was happened [happening]
Once and [in] a while
Didn’t see that going [coming]
home [how] old
and more. As well as too many commas, where they even ruin the flow & meaning of some lines.

One HELL Of A Good Read!

It's amazing to me just how varied the Golden Age of pulp fiction was. And THE HOUNDS OF HELL reminds me of this wonderful variety in its own unique way.

Because this collection of tales is ALL-NEW. The stories here are not reprints culled from the glorious, musty pulps, but new tales written in the grand tradition.

The first offering: THE HOUNDS OF HELL is as good a pulp yarn as one is likely to find. Written by pulpsmith Ron Fortier and scribe Gordon Linzner, HOUNDS offers a rollicking romp that pits the Moon Man against Dr. Satan. With short, choppy chapters, Fortier and Linzner keep the action humming and it reads so quick you think the tale must be half of its 113 page length.

A Modern Pulp Classic

Not only was this book my first introduction to Doctor Satan, it was also the book that first showed me that there were new stories being told with the classic pulp heroes. I read it years ago and adored it -- I've since re-read it twice more. It features the Moon Man and Doctor Satan going toe-to-toe (with Ascott Keane around, as well). The pacing is spot-on and never boring. The action scenes crackle in a great pulp style and the illustrations capture the characters very well. If you like pulp, you'll like this book -- it's that simple. There's a lot of new pulp being published and most of it slips through the cracks due to the fractured nature of the pulp community -- this one is truly worthy of being considered a modern pulp classic.

Great New Pulp

Just finished Hounds of Hell. There is a lot of new pulp on the market nowadays and I've read my share, but this has to be one of the best. It is a comic book-like crossover using the characters created in two classic pulp magazines. In this long novelette The Moon Man takes on Doctor Satan. The story is great. It has all the elements and characters found in both orignal pulp magazine's stories. It manages to capture the flavor of both the Robin Hood style Moon Man stories and the apocryphal over the top villainy of the the Doctor Satan books. It is fast paced with short chapters and lots of action. It is a real treat for fans of both the original pulps and those of the fast growing new pulp genre.

The only reason I didn't give this book a five star rating is the printers made at least a dozen typographical errors when they printed it. Typos are annoying and one of these turns an innocent four letter word into something R rated. not the fault of the writers or the stories, I'm sure.

The book is filled out with two short stories; the first is "Angel in his Sights." The second is "Lady Arcane-The Mistress of Magic" both by veteran wordsmith Ron Fortier. Lady Arcane is significant because she also appears in The Ghost Squad a new pulp series by Andrew Salmon and Ron Fortier.

Inspirational and Easy Reading--Refreshing

All the books in this series are good reading if you are looking for something that is not too heavy but is easy reading and inspirational. The description of the places the main character visited on his journey across America added interest but were not so detailed that I got bogged down in them. I read all five books in about a month and looked forward to each one because I read them at night to relax before going to sleep. Alan encountered many different characters in his travels and each one represented experiences we all deal with ourselves and with the people we know. The tone of the books is wholesome and it is refreshing to read stories that leave me feeling refreshed rather than tired, hopeful rather than depressed and encouraged rather than despondent. I always looked forward to sharing Alan's journey across America.

This is by far one of the BEST BOOKS THAT I HAVE EVER READ. To me it is a Beautiful Story about Alan Cristoffersen's life after the death of his wife and continuing on to begin a new life for himself and move forward. You have to be a very strong person not to shed a tear when reading parts of this book and especially the last pages of it when he reaches the end of his journey and puts his feet in the water and then he sets down and opens the envelope with the letters from his Dad and Mom and begins to read them, WOW. and then he turns around and his friend is standing behind him and there for him. To me " A PERFECT ENDING TO A PERFECT WALK AND A NEW BEGINNING"

I totally enjoyed the entire walk series, Mr Evan's always inspires personal introspection with his writings as he takes you with him in his books .Walking on Water brought new surprises and the ending was no exception. I'm sure we have not heard the end of Alan and some of the people he met along his journey. P.S.Thanks for The Walk,tell next time.
